William H. Lang,
88, of Warwick passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn S. (Aspray) Shaw-Lang. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Henry) Lang.
Mr. Lang was the Administrator and CEO of Kent Hospital from 1960 until his retirement in 1985. He previously served as a Pharmacist at Kent Hospital. He was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School and the College of Pharmacy at U.R.I., where he received the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2010. He was a Fellow of the American College of Hospital Executives. He was an Elder of Woodbury Union Church Presbyterian. He was a member of the Hospital Association where he served as president in the 1970's, Rotary, the Naval Civilian Council, where he served as president and St. Andrews Society of Rhode Island, where he served as president in the 1990's. In 2001 Bill co-authored "The Imperishable Gift" about the history of Kent Hospital.
He was the loving father of Alexander Lang of Winston-Salem, NC, William Lang of Seattle, WA, Kim Cotton of North Hampton, MA, Deborah Lewis of Warwick, Cynthia Shaw of Phuket, Thailand and Richard Shaw of West Boylston, MA. Cherished grandfather of twelve and great grandfather of one. He was the brother of the late John, Charles and Alexander Lang.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 am in Woodbury Union Church Presbyterian, West Shore Road at Beach Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
