John R. Banks,
84, of Warwick, died peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Kent Hospital. Born in Morganfield, KY, he was a son of the late Frederick Banks and Sally (Neuman) Banks. He was the husband of the late Anna M. (Plebiscito) Banks.
Mr. Banks was a Machine Operator for United Wire and Englehardt Industries until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He leaves his two children: Richard J. Banks and his wife Carol of Coventry and Linda A. Cardosa and her husband Thomas of Warwick. He was the loving grandfather of Sean, Richard, Kevin, and Great-Grandfather of Logan, Addison, Richard, and Chloe. Mr. Banks was one of six children in his family.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9:00 to 10:00 am prior to the funeral service.
