Donald F. Lewis,
80, a resident of Exeter since 1938, passed away peacefully at home after a long fight with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Geraldine M. (Colvin) Lewis. Born in Providence on July 31, 1932, he was a son of the late Edgar M. & Madeline H. (Campeau) Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was the founder of D. Lewis & Son, Inc. established in 1968.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and on the Exeter Volunteer Fire Department #1. He was an avid horseshoe player, a member of the Boy Scouts, 4-H, and one of the earliest supporters of EWG Little League.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he leaves his two children, Don Lewis and his wife Wendy of Exeter, and Linda Bilodeau and her husband John of Exeter. Loving grandfather of Amanda Lewis and Scott Lewis of North Kingstown, Thomas Bilodeau, Katie Burton and her husband Christopher of Exeter, and great-grandfather of Alexandra, Rosemarie, and Colvin. He was the brother of Barbara Bates, Joan Howard, Robert Lewis, and the late Edgar Lewis, Jr., Elizabeth Edgar, and John Lewis.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery will be private.
