Elizabeth "Betsy" L. (Weston) Chin, RN, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2012 at The Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center surrounded by her family and friends following a courageous battle with breast cancer. Elizabeth, daughter of Harold and Elsie (Tisdale) Weston, was born in Providence, RI on January 15, 1956.

She graduated from Classical High School, Community College of Rhode Island (LPN) and Rhode Island College School of Nursing (BSN).

Betsy began her nursing career working at Kent County Hospital as an LPN. She continued her career serving in various capacities at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Lifespan, and Quality Partners of Rhode Island (A Quality Improvement Arm of Medicaid) where she managed a state-wide public health initiative for Rhode Island and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island as a Quality Improvement Coordinator.

Throughout Betsy's 30 year career as a nurse, she tirelessly advocated for the best care possible for her patients and was regarded by her peers as a self-starter and a standard setter who strove for excellence in her work and demanded the same excellence from others.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Nickie Chin of Coventry, RI and her son Justin Chin of San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind her sisters Judy Forte of Warwick, RI and Candace Riordan of Bridgewater, MA in addition to five nephews, a niece, a grand-nephew, and a grand-niece. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Weston of Mariposa, CA.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 9:00 to 10:00 am prior to the service. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private.
