Vivian Elizabeth (Thomas) Beaudreau,
88, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, of Wildberry Apartments on Archambault Street, formerly of Sidney Street in West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August, 29, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar, Home and Hospice Care of RI with her family by her side.
Vivian was born in Burnsville, North Carolina on January 31, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Thomas and step-daughter of Vaughtie (Pate) Thomas from Burnsville, North Carolina.
Vivian was wife of the late Wilfred J. Beaudreau. They met in her native North Carolina while he was recovering from injuries suffered while serving in the naval war in the South Pacific. They were married when the war ended and made their lifelong home in West Warwick.
Vivian was devoted mother to her children, Patricia (husband Peter) Calci of West Warwick and Robert (wife Laurel) Beaudreau of New Durham, New Hampshire, adoring grandmother to Jason, Amy (husband Neal), Pamela (husband K.C.) and Peter III, and proud great-grandmother to Mattilynn and step, great-grandmother to Adelyn.
She is survived by her brothers Russell (wife Helen) Thomas, Jim (wife Judy) Thomas; sisters Frances (husband Dennis) McCurry and Peggy Ray; sisters-in-law Martha, Cathy, Molly and Mary Thomas. She was also the sister of the late Lorie, Rosa Lee, Ruby, Virgil, Clinton and Bob all from North Carolina and Morris from Texas.
Vivian was not only a caring wife, mother and homemaker, but also worked for Leviton Manufacturing and Natco Products for many years. Once retired, she cared for her grandchildren Pamela and Peter and later provided 24-hour care for her husband Wilfred during his final years.
Vivian had a green thumb for gardening that showed in her numerous plants and flowers. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed collecting elephant figurines and loved cooking her family s favorites. She also enjoyed playing cards, bingo and completing jigsaw puzzles.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 1 at 8:30 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick followed by a Funeral Service at 9:30 am in the First Baptist Church, 1613 Main Street, West Warwick. Burial will follow at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be Friday, August 31 from 5-8 pm.
