Joseph Francis Geleney,
83, of South Kingstown, passed peacefully on May 25, 2012 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Doris (Bovi) Geleney, he was also the husband of the late Patricia (Richards) Geleney. He was born in Fox Point, the son of the late Mary E. Geleney, 99, who passed on May 4, 2012. He also lived in East Providence and in South Kingstown.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was formerly employed by The Washburn Wire Company, and served as the President of The United Steel Workers Union. He served on the Board of Directors at East Providence Credit Union for many years, and was a deacon at St. Mary's and St. James Parish.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Joseph, Robert, Stephen, Barbara and John Geleney, Patricia Geleney Houston, and Christine Geleney Kubacki; and his step-children: Linda Badger, William Crooks, and Deborah Rotondo. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life, and the life of his mother, will be held on June 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road, Charlestown, RI, with burial at St. Ann's Cemetery Chapel, 72 Church Street, Cranston, RI at 1:00 p.m.
