Ruth E. (Byrne) Weindel, 80, of East Greenwich, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 25, 2012 at South County Hospital. Born in North Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Charles B. Byrne, Jr. and Doris E. (Bates) Byrne. She was the beloved wife of Frederick J. Weindel.

Mrs. Weindel was a cook for the East Greenwich school lunch program and a cashier at Ryan's Market until her retirement. She enjoyed baking, crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves her five children: Susan J. Goggin and her husband James of East Greenwich, Ricky J. Weindel and his wife Beth of Greenville, Nancy B. Rainone and her companion Mitchel Todd of Warwick, Dennis A. Weindel of East Greenwich, and Heidi R. Melikian and her husband George of North Kingstown. Cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Shirley Sherman of North Kingstown and the late Charlene Burbank. Ruth also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to a charity of one's choice will be appreciated.
