Manuel P. Linhares,
89, of Coventry passed away Tuesday at Riverview Healthcare. He was the husband of the late Maria C. (Barboza) Linhares. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel F. and Francisca DeFrias (Miudo) Linhares. He lived in Montreal, Canada before moving to Rhode Island in 1973.
Mr. Linhares was employed with Amtrol in East Greenwich until his retirement. He was a member of St. Anthony Church in West Warwick.
He was the loving father of Manuel Linhares of West Warwick, Connie Carreira and her husband Joseph of Coventry, Edwarda Deus and her husband Carlos of Coventry and Manuela Thomas and her husband Michael of West Warwick. Cherished grandfather of seven, great-grandfather of eight and great great-grandfather of one. He was the brother of the late Virginia DeMelo, Gloria Cidade, Maria Aborrota, Alvira Cidade and Tomas Linhares.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8:00 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Anthony Church, Maple Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 2-6 pm.
