Judith S. (O'Shaughnessy) Oakes, 64, of North Kingstown died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 5, 2012. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Ruth A. (Sheroda) O'Shaughnessy of North Kingstown and the late Thomas K. O'Shaughnessy.

Judith was a 1967 graduate of North Kingstown High School, CCRI School of Nursing and Rhode Island College, where she earned her BA in Psychology and her Masters Degree in Social Work. She was a Registered Nurse at Butler Hospital.

Judith was an avid reader, enjoyed art, loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was a member of the North Kingstown Senior Center.

She leaves her beloved children: Kevin P. Litzenberger and his companion Stacey Tillinghast of North Providence, and Kristen M. Litzenberger of Providence. Cherished grandmother of Liam K. Thompson, Irelynn Q. Thompson, Gavin R. Delaney, and Madeleine M. Tucker. She was the sister of Anne Marie Dion of Warwick, Maureen Counterman of Sioux City, Iowa, Thomas K. O'Shaughnessy, Jr. of Bristol, John J. O'Shaughnessy of North Kingstown, and Christopher P. O'Shaughnessy of North Kingstown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
