Gregory R. W. "Mike" Stuard,
85, of North Kingstown, died peacefully Thursday, March 22, 2012 at South County Hospital. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a son of the late William R. Stuard and Marie G. (Bostic) Stuard. He was the beloved husband of Anita E. (Stafsholt) Stuard.
Mr. Stuard was a Data Processor for various businesses until his retirement.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War, being honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He was a Communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the former Quonset Fleet Reserve Club, and was a long time coach for North Kingstown Pop Warner Football.
Besides his wife, he leaves four devoted children: Gregory R. W. Stuard, Jr. and his wife Laurie of North Kingstown, Patricia M. Scott and her husband Tom of North Kingstown, Mark S. Stuard and his wife Donna of North Providence, and Michael R. Stuard and his wife Kim of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Shane M. Stuard, Tory E. Groves, Stacey T. Scott, Thomas A. Scott, Jr., Tricia J. Stuard, and Scott M. Stuard. He was the brother of the late William R. Stuard, Jr., Charles V. Stuard, and Richard A. Stuard.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 11:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
