David R. Ryan, 87, of North Kingstown died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Roberts Health Centre. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Edwin J. Ryan and Hope (Rodman) Ryan. He was the husband of the late Alice (Dolego) Ryan.

Mr. Ryan co-owned and operated Ryan's Market of Wickford for 57 years until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Bernard Church and proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He leaves his five children: Michael S. Ryan of Exeter, Mary R. Sherman of Saunderstown, P. Hope Ryan of Hamilton, Catherine A. Roque of Newport, and Edwin J. Ryan of LaFayette. Cherished grandfather of fourteen grandchildren and two late grandchildren. He was the brother of Joseph R. Ryan of North Kingstown, and the late Edward R. Ryan, Paul R. Ryan, and James E. Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 415 Tower Hill Road, Wickford. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Ryan Residence, 781 Ten Rod Road, North Kingstown on Friday, March 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
