Franklin A. Gomez Riz, 9, of Cranston, died peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Born in Providence, he was the loving son of Antonio Gomez and Magdalena (Riz) Gomez. He was the cherished grandson of Andres Riz and Ignacia Castro.

Franklin was a Student at Garden City Elementary School who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he leaves a brother, Cristopher E. Gomez Riz of Cranston and two sisters, Wendy M. Gomez Riz and Yansi M. Gomez Riz, also of Cranston.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 1, 2012 at 10:00 am in St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 178 Dexter Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95).
