Antonio P. Coelho , 85, of West Warwick passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was the beloved husband of Maria Natalia (Correia) Coelho for 61 years.

Born in Santa Maria, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao and Virginia (Pacheco) Coelho. Mr. Coelho and his family emigrated to The United States in January of 1967 and settled in West Warwick.

Mr. Coelho was a machine operator for Belon Chemical Company in Cranston for over 30 years and had previously served as the Chief of the Fire Department in Santa Maria, Azores. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church in West Warwick.

He was the loving father of Cristina Castaldi and her husband Domenico, Natalia Lima and her husband Antonio and Antonio Coelho, all of West Warwick and Cidalia Bettez of Warwick. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Castaldi, Kenneth Bettez, Jr., Tiffany Bettez, Lisa Lima and Eric Lima and great-grandfather of Joseph and Vincent Castaldi and Logan Barber. Caring brother of Conceicao Carvalho and Maria Jose Castanho, Jose Coelho, Tiago Coelho and George Coelho, all of Connecticut, Olivia Monteiro of Canada and the late Jose, Jacinto, Luis, Manuel, Joao and Olivia Coelho and Cristina Ramalho. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Monday, February 27, 2012 at 8:00 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Anthony Church, Maple Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will follow in SS Peter & Paul Coventry.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 3-6 pm.
