Virginia Rose (Gavitt) Logan-Greer

Virginia Rose (Gavitt) Logan-Greer, 93, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Roberts Health Centre. Born in North Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late William A. Gavitt and Olive L. (Rose) Gavitt.

Mrs. Greer was the Postmaster of Slocum Post Office for 27 years until her retirement in 1978. She was a long time member of The First Baptist Church of North Kingstown, where she taught Sunday School and was active in many church activities. She was a member of the North Kingstown Senior Center and N.A.R.F.E.

She leaves her two children: Shirley M. Kitchin of North Kingstown and Stephen W. Logan and his wife Claire of West Kingston. Cherished grandmother of four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and grandmother of the late Scott Kitchin. She was the sister of Richard Gavitt of Bristol, CT and the late Albert Gavitt.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The First Baptist Church of North Kingstown, 1135 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852 will be appreciated.
