Donald R. Hallam, 60, of West Warwick passed away Saturday after a heroic five year battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of Joan M. (Calise) Hallam for 40 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of Donald E. Hallam of Clearwater, FL and the late Dorothy (McCann) Hallam.

As a member of Teamsters Union, Local 251, Donald was a driver for U.P.S. and previously for Red Star. Active in Babe Ruth Little League of West Warwick, he served as president for 4 years, a coach for 10 years and in 1999 received the Person of the Year award for his service, leadership and inspiration to the youth of West Warwick. He was a former member of the Lions Club of West Warwick.

He was the loving father of Valerie L. Saccone and her husband Michael of Stoughton, MA and Joshua T. Hallam of Riverside. Devoted papa of Abigail Saccone. Caring brother of Lyndia Pezza of Smithfield, Wayne Hallam of Coventry and Gary Hallam of South County. Beloved son-in-law of Joseph Calise of Coventry and the late Mary Calise. Cherished brother-in-law of Mary Ann and Glenn Robinson of Coventry.

His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 4-7 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Donald's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
