Dorothy A. (Knapp) Aponik , 80, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at South County Hospital. Born in Blandford, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Harry E. Knapp and Anna (Garner) Knapp.

Ms. Aponik was a Surgical Technician at Cranston General Hospital until her retirement in 1990. She was a former member of The First Baptist Church of North Kingstown and a friend of "Bill W."

She leaves her four children: Valerie J. Aponik and her husband Paul Reinstein of Beals, Maine, Virginia A. Fountain and her husband Howard of Wickford, Alexander F. Aponik, Jr. and his wife Valda of Exeter, and Victor J. Aponik of Ohio. Cherished grandmother of Andrea Laplume, Galen Richmond, Amy Rodrigues, Erin Leise, Shaun Aponik, Alexandra Aponik, Benjamin Aponik, Zachary Reinstein, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Eleanor Lamountain of Westfield, MA and the late David Knapp and Gloria Salopek.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
