Janice C. (Coutcher) Soares, 73, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Warwick passed away on January 2, 2012. She was the wife of the late Thomas E. Soares. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Clifford J. Coutcher and Dorothy V. (Gleavey) Mayberry.

Janice was a secretary for the State of Rhode Island at U.R.I. until her retirement. While in Rhode Island, she was a member of the Red Hat Society. Both she and her husband were active in Little League.

She was the beloved mother of Thomas E. Soares, Jr. of Providence and the late Leslie Beagan. Caring sister of Clifford J. "Butch" Coutcher, Jr. of Boca Raton, FL, Christopher Mayberry of Providence, Dorothy "Binky" Branca of South Kingstown, Stacey Maynard of Coventry and Katherine Mayberry of Warwick. Loving grandmother of Robert Beagan, Jr. and Brian Beagan and great-grandmother of two. Cherished aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 9:00-11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the R.I. Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 would be appreciated.
