Mary L. (George) Barreiro, 88, of Warwick, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at West Shore Health Center. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John P. George and Joaquina (Marques) George. She was the loving wife of Americo Barreiro.

Mrs. Barreiro was a Jewelry Supervisor for several area jewelry companies until her retirement in 1985. She was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, a long time volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and a volunteer and member of the Sunshine Club at the Cathedral of SS Peter and Paul.

Besides her husband, she leaves her three beloved daughters: Joan M. Kent and her husband Steven of East Greenwich, Susan A. Essex and her husband Steven of Warwick, and Mary J. Theroux and her husband Peter of North Providence. Cherished grandmother of Nicole, Mandi, Steven, Peter, and great-grandmother of Taylor. She was the sister of the late Modeste George, John George, and Joseph George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95).

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory Odyssey Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick RI 02886 or to a charity of one's choice will be appreciated.
