John P. Hennigan, 85, of Warwick, died peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late James F. Hennigan and Celia (Roddy) Hennigan. He was the loving husband of Margaret R. (Cooney) Hennigan.

Mr. Hennigan was a Billing Clerk for several RI Trucking Firms until his retirement in 1985. He was a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where he served as an Usher, and a member of the 83rd Division Association. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Besides his wife, he leaves his two nieces, Kathleen Sheran of Woonsocket, Jennifer Ditusa of Warwick and a nephew, Matthew Sheran of Burrillville. He was the brother of the late James F. Hennigan, Jr. and Charles R. Hennigan.

His funeral was held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 7:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick. Burial with Military Honors followed in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours were respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church will be appreciated.
