Mary "Irene" (Malone) Upshall, 77, of Main Avenue, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, September 17th at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. She was the wife of the late Kenneth G. Upshall. Born in Providence, Irene was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Murphy) Malone. Her strong matriarchal presence served her well as a devoted wife and loving mother of two. Of all the joys she experienced in her life, Irene cherished the times she spent traveling with her husband and took great pleasure in the company of her family. She was also an avid bowler with many achievements to her name. She will be fondly remembered for her endearing commitment and everlasting affection toward her husband of 52 years, her children and three grandchildren. Irene leaves behind a daughter, Joyce R. Costa of West Warwick; a son, Michael K. Upshall of Warwick; a son-in-law, David M. Costa; two granddaughters, Stephanie A. Costa-Gonsalves and Stacy L. Costa; and one grandson, Evan M. Upshall. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Requiem Eucharist at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick, RI.
