Evelyn J. (Smith) Sylven, 93, died Sunday at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Roland E. Sylven. Born in Salem, MA, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Ann (Tonge) Smith. Mrs. Sylven was an Inspector for the former Vesta Underwear Co. in Pawtucket for 34 years, retiring in 1980. She was the beloved mother of Ronald A. Russell and his wife Sharon of Chepachet. Loving grandmother of four, great grandmother of ten and great great grandmother of one. She was the sister of the late Doris Peasley and Bertha Nelson. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday 10:00 - 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 would be appreciated.
