Marie E. (Ryan) Sullivan, 76, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 7, 2010. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, John “Jack” Sullivan. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius H. Ryan and Margaret A. (Tiernan) Ryan.

Marie graduated from St. Patrick High School and attended RICE. Prior to her marriage, she worked for the NE Telephone Company and later returned to the job market, working for AMICA Insurance Company for 8 years.

Besides her husband, Jack, Marie is survived by her three children: Patricia Sullivan of Cranston, Elizabeth “Lisa” Lopes and her husband Joe of Milford, MA, and her son, Christopher and his wife Paula of Warwick.

She was the grandmother of Caleb and Mariesa Lopes, and Hannah and Ethan Sullivan. She was the sister of Edward T. Ryan of Naples, FL.

Marie loved life and lived with exuberance and courage, even throughout her 16 year battle with cancer. She will be profoundly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 8:00 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Peter Church, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home.
