Joseph A. Stamp, 85, of Seven Mile Road, Cranston, formerly of Sebastian, FL, died peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Cra-Mar Meadows, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Martin Stamp and Anna (Fronius) Stamp.

He was the loving husband of Dorothy A. (Urquhart) Stamp. The couple were married on November 10, 1945. Mr. Stamp was a WWII Marine Veteran and a toolmaker for many years until his retirement.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he leaves his six children: Joseph M. Stamp and his wife Beverly of Warwick, Carol D. Schepisi of Cranston, Jeanne V. Paquette and her husband Daniel of Newport, Dianne J. Finnegan of North Providence, Linda M. Stamp of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Lori A. Pavao and her companion John Bell of Cranston.

He was the cherished grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was the loving brother of Esther Stamp of Huntington Beach, CA, and the late Martin J. Stamp, Henry M. Stamp, Elsie Kausch, Anna Vaughn, Katherine Stamp, and Louise Petrella.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at 10:00 am in The Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple, 671 Greenville Avenue, Johnston. Burial will follow in The Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I-95). In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The Greater Rhode Island Baptist Temple in care of Missions would be appreciated.
