Donald F. Snow, 78, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at South County Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was a son of the late Robert C. Snow and Bertha R. (Wichelow) Snow. He was the loving husband of Florence M. “Ginger” (McGrath) Snow for 56 years.
Mr. Snow was a Federal Employee at Quonset Naval Air Station and served in the Army for 23 years and during the Korean War, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. During his military career, Donald and his family lived all over the world, including: Germany, Okinawa, Japan, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska, before settling back in Rhode Island.
He continued his love of travel throughout life, especially trips to the family camp in Maine. He was an avid cook, with a passion for great food. He also loved sports, especially, the Boston Red Sox, and took many trips to ballparks across the country. He loved to fish, swim, and be near the ocean, as well as spending time with his dogs, Kayla and Sadie.
Besides his wife, he leaves his three children: Michael R. Snow and his fiancée Carmen Sing of Gardiner, ME, Donald Snow of Colorado Springs, CO, and Susan A. Snow of North Kingstown. He was the grandfather of Amanda J. Snow and Stephanie Thompson, both of Gardiner, ME, Jenifer Snow of NY, Sam Snow and Molly Snow, both of Colorado Springs, CO. Loving brother of Beverly A. Mann of Exeter, Kenneth Snow of North Kingstown, and the late Milton Snow, Robert Snow, Betty Bartels, Shirley Snow, Judy Martin, Russell Snow, and Cynthia Lipscomb.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 9:00 am in Liberty Baptist Church, 279 Liberty Church Road, Exeter. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
