Ernest B. Pratt, 79, of Cranston died unexpectedly Friday at home. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frederick B. and Lillian (Benjamin) Pratt. Mr. Pratt was a self employed contractor for over 50 years until his retirement. He was a Korean War Veteran of The United States Army and an avid middleweight boxer in the Army and upon his return home to Rhode Island. He enjoyed boating, watching hockey and spending time with his eight grandchildren. He was the beloved father of Steven E. Pratt and his wife Pamela of Cranston, Diane M. McKeon and her husband Michael of Cranston, Donna J. Fabrizio and her husband Michael of West Warwick and Michelle M. Allard and her husband Luke of Warwick. Loving grandfather of eight. Caring brother of Raymond Ploude of Cranston and the late Norman Pratt, Frederick Ploude, Leo Dillon, Vivian Bogosian, Shirley A. Gaglione and Annette Colaluca. Cherished companion of Joyce Marinelli of Cranston. He also leaves his cat “Diamond”. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 5-8 pm.
