Raymond L. Perry, Sr., 80, of West Kingston, died peacefully on April 27, 2010 at South County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Westerly, he was a son of the late Arthur Perry and Virginia C. (Whitford) Perry. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley (Robinson) Perry. Mr. Perry was a truck driver for the former Wakefield Branch Lumber Company for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe, who enjoyed gardening, playing the harmonica and guitar. He leaves six children: Raymond L. Perry, Jr. of Narragansett, Penny J. Perry of West Kingston, Dennis A. Perry of West Kingston, Brenda C. Hall of Peacedale, Valerie E. Perry of Wakefield, and Lisa S. Perry of Coventry. He was the brother of Booker T. Williams of Newport, Elsie Perry-Hazard of Peacedale, Rose Marie Whitford of Peacedale, Lillian Weeden of Peacedale, Shirley Andrews of Exeter, Juanita Whitford of Newport, Betty-Lou Whitford of Providence, Isabelle Stanton of Wakefield, and Alice Whitford of Newport. He was the brother of the late Arthur Perry, Sr., Edward Perry, Clara Skuse and Violet Perry-Ortez. He was the grandfather of 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 12:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 11:00 to 12:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.
