Anna (Solan) Paroskie of Claypool Drive, Warwick, died peacefully Friday, May 21, 2010, at Kent Hospital. She was the widow of Metro Paroskie.
Born in Portage, PA on April 14, 1918, a daughter of the late Basil and Helen (Terlesky) Solan, she lived in Warwick for 6.5 years and, prior to that, for over 61 years in Bridgeport, CT.
Mrs. Paroskie was a loving mother and devoted wife. She overcame personal hardships and modest means, supported a husband who was a disabled WWII combat veteran, and raised two sons, directing them to college and graduate schools. Her grandchildren include a doctor and a former US Marine combat (Iraq) veteran.
She enjoyed big band music, rock & roll, dancing, and a good party. Occasionally, she worked in factories as an inspector.
Her survivors are two sons: Robert M. Paroskie of Warwick, RI and Charles J. and his wife Linda (Stahura) Paroskie of Woodbridge, VA; six grandchildren: Andrea (Paroskie) Schneider of Oakland, CA, Allison (MD) of Fort Defiance, AZ, Robert N. of Warwick, RI, David and Christopher (former USMC) of Woodbridge, VA, Brian of Kingsley, MI; four great grandchildren: Victoria and Isabella of Kingsley, MI, Cameron of Woodbridge, VA, and Cody of Oakland, CA; four nieces and one nephew.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, May 25, 12 noon at Urquart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800-812 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI 02886. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 10 am - 12 noon. Interment will be will be at a later date in Stratford, CT.
