Margaret “Peg” Morrissey, of North Kingstown, formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2010. She was the devoted wife of the late William R. Morrissey for 44 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Martin P. and Margaret V. (McDermott) Byrne. Peg was a waitress at the former Valle's Steak House in Warwick for 14 years and a Crossing Guard for the City of Warwick for 10 years. She was a mentor for the North Kingstown School System at Fishing Cove School. She was a member of Seniors Helping Others, Essex Village Senior Association, and Beechwood Senior Center. She was a volunteer for FISH of North Kingstown, the RI Neurofibromatosis Chapter, and the McCauley House of Providence. She was a volunteer and communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church of North Kingstown. She was the loving mother to her children: Joyce A. McElhaney and her husband Gordon of Richmond, RI, Robert E. Morrissey of Richmond, RI, and Patricia A. Alessandro and her husband, Vince of Summerfield, FL. Cherished grandmother of Daniel W. Coates of Clermont, FL, Krista D. Moravec of Riverside, RI Bridget M. McElhaney of Richmond, RI, William G. “Bill” McElhaney of Bronx, NY, and Lauryn E. Morrissey of Richmond, RI. She is also survived by her sister, Maureen A. Piampiano and brother Lawrence P. Byrne. Peg was the sister of the late Donald M. Byrne, John P. Byrne, Martin T. Byrne, and Kathleen M. Bathgate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, April 21st from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Peg's memory may be made to St. Francis de Sales Church “Honor Our Past – Invest in Our Future” Capital Campaign.
