Isabella (Neville) Mercurio, 91, of Warwick, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Brentwood Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Mercurio. Born in Boston, MA, she was a daughter of the late Augustine C. and Margaret (Doherty) Neville. Mrs. Mercurio was an Educator for the Warwick School System retiring in 1979 after 25 years of service. She served as the Chair of the Social Studies Department at Gorton Junior High School and as a Social Studies Teacher at Aldrich Junior High School. She was a graduate of the Boston Girls Latin School and Boston State Teachers College where she earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees. Mrs. Mercurio was an active communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Warwick and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Kent Hospital. She was a member of the Warwick and Rhode Island Retired Teachers Associations. She was the beloved mother of Joseph C. Mercurio of Jamestown, Margaret M. Watson of East Greenwich, Ellen M. Garland of West Warwick, Teresa M. Mercurio of Girdwood, AK, Catherine M. Crank of Scott City, MO, Ann M. Mercurio of Seattle, WA and the late Isabella M. Pontarelli. Loving sister of Margaret Robertie of Brighton, MA and the late Ellen Neville. Cherished grandmother of eleven and great grandmother of twelve. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Road, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 3-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will be private.
