John H. Johnson, Jr., 81, of Warwick, died peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Kent Hospital. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late John H. Johnson, Sr. and Margaret E. (Halgren) Johnson. He was the loving husband of E. Teresa (Laughlin) Johnson and the late Mary Ellen (Newton) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a self employed Carpenter until his retirement. He was a Communicant of Saints Rose & Clement Parish of Warwick and attended St. Bernard's Parish of Wickford. He was a member of The North Kingstown Taxpayer's Association, North Kingstown High School Music Department Boosters, former manager of the Babe Ruth Little League of North Kingstown, and a member of the North Kingstown Ambulance Service for many years. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Kevin A. Johnson and his wife Mary Susan of North Kingstown. He was the loving grandfather of Kevin A. Johnson of Providence, Aimee M. Johnson, Eric M. Johnson, Marc N. Johnson, all of North Kingstown, Brian Johnson of Gladys, VA, and John Johnson of Lake Wales, FL. He was the step-grandfather of Carol Ward of North Kingstown, Robert O'Connor of North Kingstown, and Brenda Gardner of Warwick. His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 8:45 am from THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
