George C. Grady, 86, of West Shore Road, died Friday at the home he lived in for 50 years. He was the husband of the late Mary I. (Bonnell) Grady and the late Mary L. (Moran) Grady. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George T. and Eleanor G. (Carroll) Grady.
Mr. Grady was a Meat Processing Manager for the State of Rhode Island and a Production Manager for the Uniroyal Corp. He also founded Clean-All Industrial Cleansers of Warwick and owned Grady's Pub of West Warwick. He served in The United States Army during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Grady was a member of the Clam Harbor Yacht Club and the East Greenwich Firemen's Club. He was an avid boating enthusiast and enjoyed his own powerboat the “Pins and Needles”.
He was the beloved father of Michael J. Grady and his wife Donna of Warwick, Sally Ann Fleury and her husband Richard of West Warwick, James W. Grady and his wife Janet of Warwick, Mary-Ellen Grady of Warwick and the late George G. Grady and Wayne J. Grady. Loving grandfather of nine and great grandfather of four. He was the brother of the late James W. Grady.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial, with military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated.
