Paul D. Gardiner, 49, of South Kingstown, died Wednesday at home. Born in Providence, he was a son of Marianne M. (Maynard) Needham of East Greenwich and David A. Gardiner of Arizona and step son of Brian A. Needham of East Greenwich. A Licensed Captain, he was a co-founder of Yachtman Services L.L.C. of Rhode Island. He also owned and operated the former Gardiner Marine Service in Wickford. Sailing was a passion of his. He graduated from East Greenwich High School and U.R.I. where he also taught sailing. He was the loving father of Mitchell Schulz of Wakefield. Caring brother of John K. Gardiner of Bronx, NY. Cherished nephew and cousin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday 4-7 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The Mitchell Schulz Scholarship Fund, Bank of Newport c/o Eric Leslie, 22 Bartlett Road, Middletown, RI 02842 would be appreciated.
