Mary E. (Moniz) Furtado, 91, of Warwick died Tuesday at home. She was the wife of the late Jesse Furtado to whom she had been married for 55 years. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Manuel S. and Francelina (Silva) Moniz.

Mrs. Furtado was the owner of Greenwood Nurseries in Warwick. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Warwick and a member of the Holy Ghost Society in West Warwick.

She was the beloved mother of Norman M. Furtado of Warwick, Dr. Dolores Furtado of Overland Park, KS and Hermina Kopczynski of Strasburg, PA. Caring sister of Manuel S. Moniz of West Warwick and the late Joseph Moniz and Helen Leiter. Cherished grandmother of three.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 5-9 pm. Please omit flowers.
