Alice E. (Kenney) Forsstrom,88, of East Greenwich formerly of North Kingstown passed away Wednesday at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of the late William W. Forsstrom to whom she was married for 63 years. Born in Cranston, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Amy T. (Viall) Kenney. Mrs. Forsstrom was the Director of Children's Services for the Warwick Public Library from 1967 until 1985. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Rhode Island where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. A member of The First Baptist Church in America since 1960, she served as moderator. She was a past president of the Rhode Island Zoological Society and a member of the Panama Canal Society of Florida. Mrs. Forsstrom was a Friend of the Warwick and North Kingstown Public Libraries and the Davisville Library. She enjoyed reading and was very active with her prayer group. She was the beloved mother of W. Peter Forsstrom (WFD retired) and his wife Sharon (Whorf) of Foster, Barbara Emmons and her husband Craig of Warwick, Joanne Smith and her husband David of Saco, ME and Nancy Morrow and her husband Brian of Danielson, CT. Loving grandmother of Peter, Michael and Beth. Cherished great grandmother of Matthew and Ryan. She was the sister of the late William C. Kenney, Jr. and Barbara F. Cameron. A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 12 Noon in The First Baptist Church in America, 75 North Main Street, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 4-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to VNA Hospice of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated.
