Rene O. Dupont, Jr., 61, of Whitehead Road, Coventry, died peacefully on February 18, 2010 at Kent Hospital. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Rene O. Dupont, Sr. and Rita (Plouffe) Dupont. He was husband of Frances (Loftus) Dupont.

Mr. Dupont was the owner and operator of Associated Oil Burner Service until his retirement in 1997. He was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Besides his loving wife and mother, he is survived by his two sons, Timothy W. Tuhkala of Riverside and Michael W. Tuhkala of West Warwick and a brother, Gerald E. “Jay” Dupont and his wife Cheryl of Lincoln. He also leaves two granddaughters and three nieces.

His funeral will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 8:45 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10: 00 am in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 6 St. Vincent de Paul Street, Coventry. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 would be appreciated.
