Kenneth E. Dickens, 91, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Roberts Health Center. Born in North Kingstown, he was a son of the late William E. Dickens, Maggie L. (Fish) Dickens, and step-son of Mary Bell (Ladd) Dickens. He was the loving husband of Grace M. (Menzies) Dickens.
Mr. Dickens was a mechanic and assistant service manager for Lippitt Aviation Corp of Warwick until his retirement in 1995. He proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star and received the Aviation Mechanic Safety Award from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1975. He was a member of Exeter Chapel.
Besides his wife, he leaves many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late E. Mildred Browning and Dora L. Peterson.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 10:00 am in Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.
