Robert A. Cottrell, 84, of Coventry, died Saturday November 13, 2010 at R.I. Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Jacobs) Cottrell. Devoted father of Robert E. Cottrell of Charlestown, RI. Loving grandfather and great grandfather. He retired in 1990 as a loan officer at the R.I. Hospital Trust National Bank after 32 years of service. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Earl A. and Claire E. (Swan) Cottrell. He proudly served in The U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean War. He was an alumnus of The University of Bridgeport. Mr. Cottrell served as coach and treasurer of the Coventry Babe Ruth League for 15 years. Treasurer of Washington Methodist Church in Coventry; a life member of Providence College Hockey Association; past Master of Rhodes Lodge #44 F&AM; and a member of AARP His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday November 17, 2010 at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial, with military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday 4 to 7 pm.
