Delfino J. Buonaiuto, Jr., 76, of Warwick, died Tuesday at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Anne M. (Skurka) Buonaiuto. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late D. Joseph and Nora (Rossi) Buonaiuto.
Mr. Buonaiuto was the owner and operator of Green Thumb Nursery & Garden Center in Warwick for 30 years and later served as Deputy Sheriff of Kent County for 15 years until his retirement.
He served in The United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.
He was a member of the A.F.S.M.E. Union, where he served as a steward, American Legion Post 2 in West Warwick, F.O.P. Lodge 16 in Johnston, Club Frontenac in West Warwick, and a former member of Warwick Rotary. An avid golfer, Mr. Buonaiuto was president of the West Warwick Golf League.
He was the devoted father of Andrew J. Buonaiuto and his wife Holly of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Kristine Nelson of Warwick and Sandra Buonaiuto of Cranston. Caring brother of Gustin L. Buonaiuto and his wife Winnie of Jupiter, FL, Norma A. Prata and her husband James of Warwick and the late John L. Buonaiuto. Loving grandfather of Ian Nelson, Thomas Buonaiuto and Mary Rose Buonaiuto. Cherished uncle of several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
