Helen M. (Haggerty) Benedict, 89, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Warwick, died Tuesday April 13, 2010 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. She was the wife of the late George H. Benedict. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Helen (McDonough) Haggerty. Mrs. Benedict was employed in the Accounting Department of Grinnell Corp. until her retirement. She enjoyed playing Bridge, Reading, Swimming and politics. She was the beloved mother of G. Edward Benedict of Fort Myers, FL, Paul F. Benedict of Clarksburg, NJ, Neil T. Benedit of Barnet, VT, Helen B. Stork of Mexico, Kathleen A. McNamee of Springfield, VA and the late Jeanne P. Cook. Caring sister of Robert Haggerty of Vero Beach, FL and the late Rev. Edward Haggerty and Joseph Haggerty. Cherished grandmother of fifteen and great grandmother of eleven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:00 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 5-7 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).
