Shirley I. (Hall) Atkin, 80, of E. Greenwich, died peacefully at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center surrounded by her loving family on April 15, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Earl R. Atkin. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George H. Hall and Annie (Woodhead) Hall, she lived in E. Greenwich for 55 years. Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by five children: David E. Atkin and his wife Ellen of Coventry, RI, Karen L. Clark and her husband Greg of Bridgewater, VA, Brian E. Atkin and his wife, Cindy of Culpeper, VA, Janet M. Longenecker and her husband Daryl of Fultondale, AL, and Pastor Peter S. Atkin and his wife Karen of North Kingstown. She was the loving grandmother of Bethany (Atkin) Newcomer; Michel Atkin; Annie and Joshua Atkin; Emily, Josiah, Abigail, and Molly Atkin; Preston and Tanner Clark; Tiana and Heidi Longenecker. She was the sister of the late G. William Hall. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on at Frenchtown Baptist Church, 1359 Frenchtown Rd., E. Greenwich. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to Frenchtown Baptist Church or Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
